Dr. Jim Humphrey
Dr. Jim Humphrey graduated with honors in 1983 from Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Humphrey was born and raised in the Kansas City area and is also an alumnus of Shawnee Mission North High School. He joined JCAC in the summer of 1983 and became a partner with Dr. Small in 1985 when they also opened Leawood Plaza Animal Hospital which is still a part of the practice in addition to JCAC.
Dr. Humphrey is a proud husband and father. He and his wife, Deb, have two
grown sons and a daughter-in-law, Jacob, Jason, and Amanda. Most of his time
away from practice is spent with his family enjoying a number of outdoor
activities including camping, hiking, fishing, and snow skiing. The Humphreys
currently have two dogs, named Corky and Bug and two cats named, Cinco and
Maya. Dr. Humphrey is also actively involved in his church, and is a
recreational runner.
Dr. Humphrey is a member of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Dr. Richard Eberhardy
Dr. Richard Eberhardy is a 1993 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Eberhardy joined the practice in 1998, becoming partners with Dr. Humphrey in 2007. Dr. Eberhardy was born and raised in the Kansas City area and currently makes his home in Olathe, Kansas, with his wife Lisa. They have two wonderful daughters that keep them quite busy and very happy. They also share their home with two entertaining cats, Pete and Tilley, and a rescue dog, Bean, who has received her “Canine Good Citizen” award through the AKC. Outside of veterinary duties, Dr. Eberhardy spends time coaching youth soccer, playing basketball, and enjoying a wide variety of family activities.
Dr. Eberhardy is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Kansas Veterinary Association, Kansas City Veterinary Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Dr. Dean Small
Dr. Small was born and raised in Ames, Iowa and has practiced at Johnson County Animal Clinic since his graduation from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972. He has been practicing with Dr. Humphrey since 1983 and they opened a second location, Leawood Plaza Animal Hospital in 1987. Dr. Small and his wife, Paula, live on an acreage and spend most of their free time caring for their property and their dogs, Stewart and June Bug. He enjoys traveling, especially to the Southwestern section of the United States and has an avid interest in Native American and Western history. He also has interests in landscape gardening, woodworking, astronomy and fishing. He has recently reduced his work schedule at both clinics to spend more time on his interests.
Dr. Small is a member of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association.
Cassie Grantham
Cassie Grantham has been working with animals since 1998 and joined Leawood Plaza Animal Hospital in 2000. Cassie has been caring for pets in the kennel since she started and has recently been assuming some technician’s duties. Cassie has a beautiful daughter, Nora Rose, born in December of 2002, and a new daughter, Miranda Jean, who was born in December of 2005. She is also “mom” to a kitten named Halo. In her spare time she likes to do craft projects with her daughter, listen to Disney sing-a-longs, burn dinner and pretend to sleep.
Diane Glassburn
Technician Diane Glassburn was brought up on her family’s Polled Hereford farm in upstate New York, where she raised award winning cattle and rode her quarter horse competitively. After graduating high school, she attended New England Education Center in Framingham, Massachusetts, where she received her degree as a Veterinary Technician. After graduation, she returned to New York, where she worked for an animal hospital that specialized in both large and small animals. In 1977, she moved to Kansas City to marry her high school sweetheart and start a family. During this time, Diane started her tenure at Johnson County Animal Clinic. In 1987, Diane took some time off from the clinic to be closer to her two children while they were young. After a few years, she started back in the business at Leawood Plaza Animal Hospital, where she has been until the present. All totaled, she has worked for the two hospitals for almost thirty years. Her children have both graduated from college and have started out on their own and now her family also includes two dogs, three cats, and numerous strays that seem to be attracted to her home.
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson joined Leawood Plaza Animal Hospital, as a receptionist, in 2009. After being a stay-at-home mom, she worked in the interior design and furniture business for twenty years. Chris resides in Overland Park. She has two grown sons, Chad and Adam, a daughter-in-law, Amy, two grandsons, Gage and Max, and a Miniature Schnauzer, Sammie. When not working, Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends.
